Personal Care Attendant (Pca)
PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT (PCA)
- A person employed by an ADA eligible rider as a Personal Care Attendant, is not considered a companion and is not required to pay a fare. This also applies to a rider that is determined, during the eligibility determination process, to need a Personal Care Attendant. A Personal Care Attendant is regarded as a “mobility aid” and can be a paid employee, a family member, or a friend. PCA pays full fare or fares identified on GRTA Fare Structure on any Fixed Route.
- A PCA does not have to be the same person every time. You must, however, be registered with GRTA as needing the services of a PCA with you on your rides.
- Your PCA must get on and off the bus at the same place and time as you. The PCA is not allowed to be transported to any other location.
- Please inform the Dispatcher each time you make a reservation that you will be accompanied by a PCA. This ensures there will be room on the bus for both of you.
